With most long journeys, there comes a time when you must come home and return to reality. There is a little dread and apprehension of missing the excitement of exploring new places and learning new cultures. I have always loved to travel and have been to many wonderful locations.
This includes travel not only domestically, but internationally as well. In many ways, I equate these past two years as another one of my journeys.
While I didn’t necessarily physically go anywhere, it was a venture just the same. As I finish my last homework assignment and post it to my ePortfolio, I feel that it is time for me to return home and to my own reality.
Much like any journey, one of the first things most travelers do is unpack their bags and admire the souvenirs found along the way. These treasures, along with pictures taken, become the topic of many conversations for a little while upon returning home. After time, however, the trinkets are put on a shelf and the photos are stored away, only to be beheld every once and awhile. This is where the similarities between my normal journeys and my MBA expedition split. The souvenirs I have gathered during this excursion will not be put on a shelf to gather
dust. Instead, these treasures will be ones that I intend to show off during the rest of my professional life. Be it the strategic management statue, the colorful marketing strategies collector plate, or the organizational change and conflict memento shot glass, to name a few. None of them will be dust collectors on a shelf, but rather tools I will strive to display and communicate as I transition back to reality. The journey has been long, but rewarding. As I unpack the last of the items in the bottom of my suitcase, the final item is posted here. Artifact #1 is my Master Major Comprehensive Project (MMCP) on Apple, Inc. It has been the topic of research for the past 6 weeks and the last of my “red-eye”flights in this journey. Enjoy.
